There are examples of air and space technologies all over the huge floor. The newer area in the back is all about observing the restoration and preservation of the artifacts. In the front is three imax theatre with documentaries and later in the day block busters.
Excellent museum. We were very impressed with the many displays of historic airplanes and one of the actual space shuttles. Give this place lots of time, this place is huge! One of the highlights of our trip. My family wants to go back. Excellent gift shop too.. Save some time to shop. We recommend it to everyone
I was able to meet a couple of air Force veterans who were visiting. Very cool to be able to do that.
This is one of my favorite places to spend time. You walk in and immediately see a space shuttle, but don't get distracted, the experience is designed to start with you walking towards that view as a reveal. From there you can walk down the ramp on your right and through the history of engines. Literally watch them progress over the last century and see where we have been and how we improved performance to get where we are today.
Have you ever wanted to see the Space Shuttle? This museum is incredible. It's an annex to the Air and Space Museum in the heart of D.C. but has all the best stuff. Our free tour was really educational without being boring. The amount of aircraft is very impressive. It is also right near Washington Dulles Airport, which is really convenient as a last tourist stop before hitching a flight home. Be sure to go up in the Tower for some plane spotting. They also have IMAX movies. Museum entrance is free, however parking you must pay for.
We had a great time at the air and space museum! The staff Wes super friendly and helpful, helping us find all kinds of things, and showing us up to the skyline view tower, which was so beautiful!! We got to see a few planes landing and even one taking off!! The museum itself is really nice, all kids of aircrafts, some really old, some really cool.
We had a bunch of kids, aged 12 and down, and they all had something they liked!
This is one of the places where there is an SR-71 on display. You really have to check that exhibit out. They also have many other aircraft for viewing like the Concord, the old fighter jets of world wars and also spacecraft. This is a really good field trip place for kids and also for people who like aerospace vehicles.
